The women served by the Doula Foundation meet a common criteria—they are all at-risk expectant mothers.  All are low-income, two-thirds are single, and half are teenagers grappling with the idea of becoming mothers. By providing these women with support and education throughout their pregnancies, births, and postpartum period, the Doula Foundation is able to have a positive impact on maternal and child health and dramatically reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect.

Funds raised at the Friend Raiser will be used to support our mission of improving the health and well-being of children in our community by nurturing low-income pregnant women and teens during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.  We do that by providing free prenatal and baby yoga classes, childbirth education, and birth and postpartum doula support.  By “mothering the mother”, we are able to empower her to better mother her child.
